“What can I say?I would have laughed at anyone who said this time last year that by October 2012 you’ll have joined a Bootcamp in Glasnevin and could actually manage it! I never in a million years thought I could because I thought bootcamps were for fit people.
My friend joined and kicked my ass to try it out. I nearly backed out to be honest but I thought ‘what the heck I’ll give it a go’ even though I was worried I’d be the only overweight person in the class! You know the feeling: that people are looking and judging. Well, I couldn’t have been more wrong.
I got so much encouragement and obviously still do. I’m being pushed, but in a good way and there’s no yelling. Thankfully.
As for the girls in the class, they’re fab and so welcoming. They’re great craic, which helps and also keep you motivated.
I listen and follow the healthy eating plan. It’s not anywhere near as hard as I thought and far easier to follow then counting fecking points. I can actually live and am no longer obsessed with food.
As for the weight loss I can’t believe how easy it’s been so far and I’m down over 40lbs since October/November. I’m not there yet but I’m well on my way.
For the first time in years I’m looking forward to the summer!

Hi Bryan,Just wanted to drop you a quick line to say thanks for delivering on your claims! Post baby and just 2.5 months pre wedding, I needed to get a plan. I saw a link on Facebook and went to a trial class, liked it and decided to give it a shot.I have to admit I didn’t really hold out much hope but figured it couldn’t hurt. I wasn’t huge but I felt so soft and couldn’t find my core with a map! In the past I’ve been a big running fan and it worked for me but only when I had the time to run for at least an hour 5 days a weekWhen you told me that cardio was not the way forward it took me a while to get my head around it. I had been frustrated for years “working hard”‘ pounding pavement but not getting the results I wanted, ie slimmer! Even when I did triathlons, I never looked lean, when I did loads of swim training my arms got stronger but I picked up weight. I really thought that I was just one of those people who didn’t respond to exercise.
Then I started in your bootcamp in Jan, by my hen in mid Feb my girlfriends were telling me I looked great, I don’t weigh myself but all my work trousers were hanging off me and I never felt stronger. After the baby I never imagined my stomach muscles would return!
There’s no hardcore diet but bless you for gently suggesting I give up my daily galaxy;) again getting my head around not worrying about the calories and focusing on the type of food made all the difference. I want to point out there is no motivation like a wedding dress and I went to 3 classes a week and worked hard.
The classes are tough but you can feel yourself getting better so fast, the first time I did floor sprints I thought I’d die!
